Installing the Power-On Harness in an Ion Game 

To install the Power-On Harness, first determine what kind of motherboard is in your game using the 

diagrams below. The simplest way to do this, is to notice the position of the North Bridge in relation to the 

CPU Fan. The North Bridge will sit at an angle to the CPU fan on an ECS board (see Figure 1), while it will be 

squared off in the same way as the fan on an ASUS board (Figure 2).

The Power-On Harness will replace the Watchdog Harness. So to install the Power-On Harness, first remove 

the Watchdog Harness, noting its routing and cutting any tie wraps as necessary. This harness runs from J14 

on the I/O board to the JPanel header on the motherboard (see Figures 5 & 6 for motherboard location). 

Replace the Watchdog Harness with the Power-On Harness, following the same route. Tie wrap any wires as 

necessary. See Figures 3 & 4 for which harness to use with which motherboard.

All wires are closest to the edge of the board 

and on opposite ends of the Jpanel header. 

The wire from the 4-pin connector is also furthest 

from the 12-pin connector.  

The connector should be on the outside corner of 

the JPanel header with the two-wire side 

closest to the edge of the board.
